Who are you?

Does it matter?  I'm some guy on the Internet with opinions.  I live and work in the DC area in the public policy realm, and I've studied public policy and economics, if that makes any difference to you.  But let's be honest: it shouldn't.

Why the pseudonym?

Because I have a job, and because I want to be crystal clear that this isn't that.  All opinions here are solely my own.

Why thwarting history?

If you don't know the origin, read this.

But don't you want to be on the right side of history?

No.  I want to be on the right side of right; history be damned. If the sons and grandsons of my generation want to be fools, they can go right ahead without my joining in their foolishness.  If they don't look back kindly on the things I've had to say, who cares?  I certainly won't be cowed by hypothetical future disapproval.

That's not to say that I find the future unimportant.  I want those future generations to have the same liberty that I do, and even more, if they can manage it. That's why I'm here.  But I'm not blindly optimistic, and I don't fall for the false hope that things are going to get better just because.
